Good afternoon,

The Clarendon Team responded to a call of a potential rogue trader masquerading as an employee from an energy provider this week. In this instance, the homeowner was vigilant surrounding the circumstances and there were no further concerns.

Here are some basic pointers that can help spot and deter rogue traders from taking advantage of you or neighbours you may be concerned about.

Say NO to cold callers – genuine traders/service providers will rarely turn up without an appointment.

Check Credentials – ask to see any ID from their trading body.

Payment – Never pay upfront for any services or hand over cash at the front door.

If in doubt, contact a trusted friend/relative or neighbours.

If you suspect Rogue Traders may be operating in your area. Please report to Trading Standards through Citizens advice at: business-regulation@leicester.gov.uk

If there is an immediate threat or you feel in danger. Contact Leicestershire Police via 999.
